Today is the day. We were up at 530am, accompanied by 6 of our nearest and dearest, and on our way to Wales. We're taking part in a gruelling challenge called Tough Mudder.
It's a 13 mile run through mud and god only knows what else. As if that wasn't challenging enough there are also 20 or so obstacles to try and overcome at different points throughout the course. Sounds pretty tough to us so we'll just have to see how we get on!
Why are we doing it? A few reasons...
- to challenge our mental and physical toughness
- to work as a team to get each other through it
- to have fun!
- to be in nature
- to de-stress our minds (maybe not our bodies)
- to get a day off tomorrow
The list goes on. Each and every one of us will have our own reasons to complete the course.
The reason we're talking about this today though is to get you thinking about goal setting and challenging your body every now and then. Sure we talk a lot about taking care not to over stress your body, but generally we're referring to chronic low levels of stress. It's actually good for your body and mind to have acute (to a certain level) stress to deal with every now and then to get the internal processes working efficiently.
So, get out there and set yourself a challenge. An achievable yet tough challenge to train for. Make sure you work hard but also 'rest hard' while training for it and most of all make sure you hav some fun!
We'll pop some pictures of the team, sponsored by JB Health, up on the home page later today. Have a look back later!
